Outdoor Movie Party - Pajama Style

What do you get when you combine the fun of a vintage outdoor drive-in theatre with a pajama party?  You get a super fun Outdoor Movie Pajama Party!   Such was Caroline’s 7th birthday bash!  Her entire school class of 50 first graders was invited to wear pajamas, bring blankets, and come enjoy the Barbie Mermaid Tale 2 movie out under the stars.

Guest walked a red carpet up the driveway, past the “Caroline’s Outdoor Movie Theater” sign, and into the backyard. Caroline welcomed her guests dressed in striped pajama bottoms and a glow-in-the-dark neon t-shirt with a movie star iron-on image “7.”

The timing of the party coincided with dusk, and was scheduled 15 minutes prior to sunset.  The girls staked out their claim to a spot on the grassy lawn in front of a giant inflatable movie screen.   Blankets marked their place while they excitedly gathered their snacks.   Glow-in-the-dark necklaces were distributed for an added effect!

A New Orleans Lucky Dog cart served the traditional hot dogs, and a movie theater popcorn stand gave out bags of delicious popcorn.  Other movie snacks included fruit snacks, goldfish, and drink boxes.  Bottled water with star-themed labels was in keeping with the invitation design.

The sun set and it was show time!  After the movie, Caroline was serenaded with “Happy Birthday” before blowing out the candles on her cookie cake.  Ice cream made it a total party package!  On their way home for the evening, the girls received party favors of microwave movie theater popcorn and over-sized movie candy boxes.  Party themed favor tags thanked the guests for making the party such a “sweet treat.”
